An individual placement and support (IPS) pilot project in Auckland and Counties Manukau (2015-2017) successfully tested the use of dedicated implementation support and technical assistance to improve the reach and effectiveness of IPS in the New Zealand context.
The project found that having implementation support significantly improved fidelity to the evidence base for the IPS programmes, increased the number of people referred to and accepted onto the programme, improved clinicians’ attitudes towards the employability of people on their caseload and improved the outcomes services were achieving.
