Work Counts is hosting a one-off in-service session to help IPS employment specialists build confidence and effectiveness when participating in multidisciplinary team (MDT) and clinical meetings.
Held online, the 90-minute session explores the purpose of clinical team meetings, highlights the unique value of the employment perspective within recovery-focused care, and provides practical guidance on preparing for meetings, sharing relevant information, advocating for referrals, and instigating meaningful employment-focused conversations.
Through reflection, discussion and role-play scenarios, participants will have the opportunity to develop skills to confidently engage with clinical teams, support shared decision-making, and promote employment as an important component of health, wellbeing and recovery.
By the end of this in-service, participants will be able to:
- Understand the purpose of multidisciplinary team (MDT) and clinical meetings and how they support coordinated, recovery-focused care
- Build confidence in contributing to MDT conversations and sharing an employment-focused perspective
- Identify what employment-related information is relevant to discuss in clinical meetings
- Develop practical strategies for preparing for, participating in and influencing MDT discussions
- Strengthen collaboration with clinical teams to improve referral pathways and outcomes for tāngata whai ora.
